For Men: Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Preventive Medicine Anti-Aging and Chelation Therapy offers personalized protocols to improve and restore testosterone levels to get you back in the game and feeling your best self.

Symptoms It Treats

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy can make the transition into older age much more tolerable as you lose hormones. By replacing your missing hormones, you can experience significantly fewer symptoms.

Symptoms of low testosterone include:

  • Low sex drive

  • Erectile dysfunction

  • Fatigue

  • Reduced muscle mass

  • Weight gain

  • Hair loss

  • Body aches

  • Irritability

  • Bone loss

  • Loss of physical strength

  • Depression

  • Difficulty losing stubborn fat.

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy doesn’t just mitigate symptoms. It can also lower the risk for certain diseases and health complications like diabetes, osteoporosis, and cataracts. Some patients even report improvements in their skin health after estrogen bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, like better hydration and elasticity.

Possible Side Effects

Bioidentical estradiol (a type of estrogen) and progesterone hormones have approval for safe use by the FDA. As you adjust to using them, you might experience a few mild side effects like acne or bloating. With bioidentical testosterone, possible side effects include skin issues, breast enlargement, and worsening sleep apnea symptoms.

The team at Preventive Medicine Anti-Aging and Chelation Therapy prescribes the lowest possible effective dose of bioidentical hormones for you. That minimizes your chances of experiencing side effects. They also conduct an in-depth evaluation during your consultation to make sure bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is safe for you in general.

Treatment Options

Testosterone optimization

Every patient receives a complete medical assessment and personalized treatment plan for his optimal health, wellness, and testosterone levels. Supplements are often used to improve symptoms as well as testosterone levels. Prescription options for testosterone replacement therapy are provided by trusted compounding pharmacies.

Estrogen reduction

Elevated levels of estrogen can lead to symptoms of low testosterone. Supplements or prescription estrogen blockers may be used to reduce estrogen levels and reduce symptoms. This allows for the maximal effect of the testosterone with minimal dose needed.

Therapeutic Blood Draws

While doing testosterone therapy you may be advised to get therapeutic phlebotomy periodically. Testosterone not only helps build muscle but it also stimulates your body to produce more red blood cells. Red blood cells deliver oxygen to all parts of your body, and when there are too many red blood cells the oxygen delivery is much less effective. This is measured by looking at hemoglobin. When hemoglobin is too high it can make it seem like the testosterone is less effective.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy and Optimization Options

Gonadorelin

is a peptide that can increase endogenous testosterone production by stimulating LH and FSH production. LH and FSH stimulate the testicles to produce testosterone and sperm to enhance testosterone and maintain fertility.

Nandrolone Deconate (Deca)

is an anabolic steroid that may be recommended alone or as an adjunct to TRT for men. Deca can be used to reduce joint pain or to build and maintain muscle mass. Deca has a higher myotrophic (muscle building): androgenic (male characteristics) ratio resulting in improved effect on muscle mass. Deca has a relatively long half-life in the plasma and a strong binding affinity for androgen receptors. It is important to only use Deca as directed by your health care provider.

Testosterone.

Testosterone cypionate is a long acting ester of testosterone and has a longer half life. Testosterone Enanthate is another long acting ester, but slightly shorter half life than testosterone cypionate. Testosterone Propionate is a short acting ester of testosterone and has a much shorter half life. Compared to other anabolic steroids testosterone propionate is able to normalize androgen receptors to increase the androgenic effect of TRT. Many of our male patients say they feel better doing the cypionate/propionate blend. Frequent smaller dosing is preferred over larger infrequent dosing and has been shown to have steadier states of serum testosterone. In addition, multiple doses over the week may lower estrogen and DHT production as well as other unwanted side effects from TRT.

Most testosterones that are mass manufactured are made in cotton seed or sesame seed oil. Cotton and Sesame seed oils are very inflammatory and can cause damage to the testosterone receptor. This can lead negative side effects: dry cough, acne, painful injection site, and ineffective treatment long term. Testosterone compounded in grape seed oil or coconut MCT oil is anti-inflammatory and supports healthy testosterone levels.

Our experts at Preventive Medicine Anti-Aging and Chelation Therapy will help guide you to the best blend of testosterone for you in your treatment plan. We will review the best type of testosterone, how much you should be taking and how frequently to help you achieve the best results. While undergoing Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT), it is important to adhere to the treatment plan made for you, that includes getting regular labs, therapeutic phlebotomy, supplements, and possible other adjunct therapy to get the most from TRT.
